Starting with Ken Soderholm’s early focus on carpentry and cabinetry, the company evolved into a trusted name in custom homebuilding, blending skill, integrity, and attention to detail.
With the next generation joining the business, Soderholm Custom Builders continues to deliver thoughtful, high-quality work while maintaining the principles that have guided them from the beginning. Our Family Story
1934
A Tradition Born
Over 70 years ago, the Soderholm family discovered a skillful passion for the art of carpentry and building. Today, and three generations later, Ken Soderholm and his sons carry on this heritage as a defining staple of the business.
1984
A Craftsman Foundation
Ken learned the value of quality craftsmanship from his father and built a thriving carpentry and cabinetry business in the 1980s. As his work evolved into larger-scale renovations, he followed the same approach, bringing the highest level of knowledge and professionalism to every project.
1997
Complementary Skills
When Ken’s oldest son, Sam, joined the business as a full-time partner in 1997, together they moved the business forward. Their complementary strengths and personalities bring a unique approach to collaborative teamwork, greatly benefiting clients and bringing added creativity to every project.
2007
A New Name, Same Principles
In 2007, the business evolved and so did the company name, from Soderholm Carpentry, Inc. to Soderholm Custom Builders, Inc. The change more accurately reflected the company’s full range of building projects and offerings, but the foundation and guiding principles remained strong: integrity, meticulous commitment to quality, service, and dependability.
2010
Continuing the Tradition
Ken’s youngest son, Will, joined the company in 2010, continuing the family tradition and contributing to its growth. Will focuses on providing exceptional service to clients and ensuring that Soderholm’s commitment extends beyond the build, reaching into the homes of the families they serve.
2024
Celebrating 40 Years
We are happy to celebrate 40 years of building innovation and success with our ‘extended family’ of valued clients and partners. As we grow, we look forward to continuing our tradition of steadfast commitment to quality and customer service for many years to come.
